Gaza Strip - The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet security service announced they killed approximately 15 terrorists at a United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) school in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza. The airstrike targeted a Hamas combat room within the school, which the IDF claims was used to plan attacks against IDF forces. The IDF stated they took precautions to minimize civilian casualties.
IDF Casualties and Evacuations
13 IDF soldiers were wounded in two separate incidents in Gaza, with four in serious condition. The IDF issued evacuation notices to residents of several neighborhoods in northern Gaza, citing Hamas' use of the area for terrorist activities and rocket launches.
Rafah and Jabaliya Operations
In Rafah, heavy fighting was reported between the IDF and Hamas as Israeli tanks advanced into eastern neighborhoods. The IDF also launched a second campaign in eastern Jabaliya after detecting a buildup of Hamas fighters attempting to regroup in the city. Several underground bunkers, tunnels, and rocket launchers were found and demolished.
UN Facility Used by Hamas
The IDF released drone footage showing armed Hamas terrorists operating within a UN facility in eastern Rafah, a major logistics hub for the UNRWA aid agency. The video shows terrorists standing near clearly marked UN vehicles, with UN personnel appearing unconcerned by their presence.
Lebanon Strike and Hezbollah
Attacks In southern Lebanon, an IDF strike eliminated Hezbollah field commander Hussein Maki and his deputy while they were traveling by car in the city of Tzur. The IDF has conducted a series of tactical strikes on Hezbollah officials to damage the organization's ability to attack Israel and deter its operatives.
Despite the strikes, Hezbollah continues to attack Israeli soldiers, civilians, and infrastructure near the border using anti-tank missiles, rockets, and other weapons. Several civilian buildings in northern Israel have been hit, and one Israeli civilian was killed in the village of Adamit.
Egypt's Legal Action Against Israel
Egypt announced it would join South Africa's lawsuit against Israel at the International Court of Justice in The Hague. Additionally, officials in Cairo have made increasingly hostile statements about suspending the 1979 Camp David Accords, which form the basis of peace between Israel and Egypt.
IDF Casualty
in Rafah Sergeant Yair Gisfan, 19, from Petach Tikva, was killed on Tuesday near Rafah in southern Gaza. He is the first IDF casualty in the Rafah operation. Three other soldiers were wounded in the same incident.
