Dutch politician Geert Wilders arrived in Israel on Sunday and has since met with several key Israeli officials, including Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar, Defense Minister Israel Katz, and Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana. Wilders, a known advocate for Israel, has used the trip to strengthen his ties with Israeli leadership and reaffirm his support for the country.
In a post on X/Twitter, Wilders mentioned that he would visit Samaria on Monday, further solidifying his connection with Israel. He described Minister Sa'ar as a “very very good friend,” reflecting the close relationship between the two.
Wilders also met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, just hours before Netanyahu’s expected testimony in his ongoing corruption trial. Wilders expressed his admiration for Netanyahu’s efforts in the fight against terrorism, noting that in just one year, Israel had done more to combat terrorism than the European Union had in the past 70 years.
Known for his outspoken stance against antisemitism, Wilders has been a staunch supporter of Israel for years, vocally defending the country both in the Netherlands and across Europe. His visit underscores the importance of his pro-Israel position in European politics.
In addition to Wilders’ visit, Argentinian Foreign Minister Gerardo Werthein also made headlines at The Jerusalem Post Miami Conference this week. Werthein spoke of the important role that everyone could play in helping to bring Israelis back from Hamas captivity in Gaza, emphasizing the need for both prayer and activism.
Werthein also praised the shift in Argentina’s foreign policy under President-elect Javier Milei, highlighting his support for Israel and his defiance of authoritarianism in South America. Werthein further expressed confidence in the future of relations between Argentina and the U.S., especially with President-elect Donald Trump.
The Argentine Foreign Minister shared a personal anecdote about his swearing-in ceremony, noting that he took the oath on a Jewish Chumash religious text, as a testament to his pride in his heritage and the importance of showing who he truly is in such a momentous role.
These meetings and statements reflect growing international support for Israel and the continued alignment of key global players with the Jewish state in its ongoing conflicts and diplomatic efforts.
