The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Monday that soldiers from the 7th and 769th Brigades located and dismantled several Hezbollah weapons storage facilities in southern Lebanon. The facilities contained a vast array of weaponry, including mortar shells, missiles, rockets, explosives, firearms, and additional military equipment belonging to the Hezbollah terrorist group. All seized weaponry was confiscated, and the storage sites were neutralized to prevent further threats.
The IDF reported that these operations are part of ongoing efforts to secure the region and dismantle Hezbollah’s terrorist infrastructure. In addition to the weapon caches, several Hezbollah operatives were eliminated as part of the military's strategic operations in southern Lebanon.
The IDF has also been focusing on bolstering security in northern Israel, particularly in communities near the Lebanese border. To address regional threats, the military has implemented extensive infrastructure security measures over the past year, including the installation of around 1,300 protective shelters and 20 fortified guard posts.
Moreover, the IDF has distributed 3,700 safes to emergency squads and focused on enhancing physical security by constructing perimeter fences and paving essential security paths to improve mobility and protection.
Maj.-Gen. Rafi Milo, the commanding officer of the Home Front Command, recently toured northern Israel's evacuated communities to assess these security measures. He focused on schools and public buildings, ensuring they are well protected amid ongoing concerns.
The Home Front Command has been working alongside government bodies to expand protective measures for the communities along the Lebanese border. This collaboration has led to significant progress, from shelter installations to enhanced coordination with local residents, strengthening the civilian-military partnership in the region.
