In recent weeks, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have ramped up operations targeting Hezbollah's rocket launch sites across southern Lebanon, marking a critical step in weakening the terror organization's capacity. According to the latest IDF estimates, nearly 7,000 Hezbollah rocket launchers were destroyed in strikes, eliminating close to one-fifth of their short-range missiles.

This significant reduction in Hezbollah’s firepower challenges previously held beliefs of the organization’s vast arsenal, once estimated at over 180,000 rockets and missiles. IDF intelligence now estimates Hezbollah's current arsenal to include fewer than 40,000 short-range rockets and 5,000 medium-range rockets. The rest, it appears, are mortar shells with limited range.

Despite these successes, Hezbollah still poses a significant threat. The group retains advanced drone and UAV capabilities, which the IDF has been addressing through improved detection and interception systems deployed along Israel’s northern border.

Disrupting Hezbollah's Command Structure

Alongside the destruction of Hezbollah's rocket arsenal, the IDF has also carried out high-profile targeted strikes. Notably, the assassinations of key Hezbollah commanders, such as Fuad Shukr and Nasser Abu Nama, have caused severe disruptions within the organization's leadership. Israeli officials report that these eliminations have destabilized Hezbollah’s command and control operations, leading to less coordinated attacks.

Looking Ahead: Preparing for a Northern Offensive

While the IDF continues its efforts to neutralize Hezbollah’s threats from Lebanon, Israeli military leaders are preparing for the potential that the northern front could become the main theater of conflict. Despite current conditions not being ideal for a full-scale offensive, due to ongoing operations in Gaza and the hostage crisis, Israel remains committed to ensuring the security of its northern border.

As Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi stated during a visit to the northern border, "We are focused on Hezbollah’s threats, neutralizing their capabilities before they can strike, and preparing for potential offensive actions to protect our borders."

Conclusion

With Hezbollah's capabilities significantly reduced, Israel is demonstrating its readiness for a potential shift in the conflict to the north. As tensions remain high, the IDF will continue to prepare for all scenarios to ensure the safety and security of the Israeli people.
