On Friday, Israeli forces clashed with Palestinian terrorists in the West Bank city of Nablus after they launched an attack on IDF troops with improvised explosives, Molotov cocktails, stones, and even fireworks during counterterrorism operations. According to the IDF, troops returned fire in order to neutralize the threat posed by the attackers.

The Palestinian Health Ministry reported that an 18-year-old, identified as Muhammad Madhat Amin Amer, was killed in the incident, though it remains unclear whether he was directly engaged in armed conflict with the Israeli forces at the time of his death. In addition to the fatality, the Health Ministry also stated that nine other Palestinians were wounded, four of whom are in critical condition.

The violence took place near the area of Balata, east of Nablus, and the IDF confirmed that snipers were deployed on rooftops to monitor the situation. No casualties were reported among the Israeli troops.

The incident is part of ongoing tensions in the West Bank, where Israeli military operations against Palestinian militants continue. These operations have led to frequent clashes, with casualties on both sides. The IDF's presence in the region is part of broader efforts to combat terrorism and prevent attacks on Israeli civilians.

Tensions Surround UNRWA’s Role in Gaza

In related news, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has found itself in the midst of controversy. Following the October 7, 2023, Hamas massacre, the Israeli government voted to ban the UN agency from operating within Israeli territory. This decision is set to take effect this month, which could potentially signal the end of UNRWA’s operations in the region.

The agency has been criticized for its alleged ties to Hamas, with claims that some of its workers have participated in terrorism. These concerns have been exacerbated by the agency's inability to coordinate effectively with Israel, putting its staff and aid operations in jeopardy.

Despite this, UNRWA officials stress the necessity of communication with Israel to ensure the safe delivery of aid in Gaza and parts of the West Bank. Louise Wateridge, a senior UNRWA official, warned that without daily coordination with Israeli authorities, staff lives would be at risk, with over 250 workers reportedly killed since the outbreak of the war.

The ongoing conflict and restrictions on aid deliveries have created a dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, exacerbated by looting in the southern Gaza Strip and delays in aid distribution.
