The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have uncovered a strategy employed by Hezbollah involving the launch of a heavy cruise missile from a civilian home in southern Lebanon. The IDF spokesperson, Brigadier General Daniel Hagari, revealed this morning that Hezbollah militants intended to launch a DR-3 cruise missile from this residential area, using the building to conceal their military intentions.
IDF Urges Lebanese Civilians to Evacuate
As part of its ongoing operations against Hezbollah, the IDF has called upon Lebanese civilians, especially those living in southern villages, to evacuate homes and buildings where Hezbollah is hiding weapons. The IDF has warned that these sites pose a significant danger to civilians, and targeted strikes against these locations are imminent. Messages were sent via SMS to residents in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley, urging them to vacate their homes immediately if they suspect Hezbollah is storing weapons nearby.
Brigadier General Hagari emphasized, "Hezbollah is putting you and your families in danger. We urge you to keep your distance from such sites."
IDF's Strategic Strikes Across Lebanon
This revelation comes amidst a series of targeted strikes by the IDF against Hezbollah positions. These strikes have not only been limited to southern Lebanon but have also extended into the Bekaa region, further from Israel's northern border. One of the significant attacks occurred in the town of Zebd, around 125 km north of Israel’s border.
According to Lebanese sources, more than 100 strikes were carried out by dozens of Israeli fighter jets, with over 80 attacks reported in the Nabatieh region alone. The strikes primarily targeted launch sites, weapons depots, and military installations, aiming to neutralize Hezbollah's ability to launch attacks against Israel.
Ensuring the Safety of Northern Israeli Residents
The IDF’s goal in its operations against Hezbollah is to reduce the immediate threat posed to Israel’s northern communities, including dismantling the so-called "Radwan Force," a specialized Hezbollah unit. These actions are crucial to ensuring that Israeli civilians can return to their homes safely. The Israeli government aims to clear Hezbollah’s military infrastructure close to the Israeli border and to prevent further aggression from Hezbollah-controlled areas.
Continued Operations Against Iranian Proxy Threats
In response to questions about the possibility of further military maneuvers in Lebanon, Brigadier General Hagari reaffirmed that the IDF is ready to take any action required to secure Israel’s northern border and that the operational plans have been presented to the political echelon. He emphasized that Israel remains vigilant against all threats posed by Iranian proxies, not just from Hezbollah but also from Iraqi militias that have recently launched UAVs and cruise missiles towards Israel.
Conclusion: Hezbollah’s Dangerous Use of Civilian Areas
The use of civilian homes and neighborhoods by Hezbollah for military purposes once again demonstrates the organization's disregard for human life. The IDF remains committed to defending Israeli citizens while minimizing harm to innocent Lebanese civilians caught in the crossfire.
