On the morning of February 4, 2025, eight IDF soldiers were wounded in a shooting attack near the Palestinian village of Tayasir, located in the northern Jordan Valley. The terrorist, who is believed to have arrived in the area under the cover of night, waited until daybreak before launching the assault.

The attack began around 6:00 AM when two soldiers exited the outpost and were met with gunfire from the assailant. The terrorist then positioned himself at the entrance and continued to fire on the remaining soldiers inside. Although taken by surprise, the soldiers swiftly returned fire from within the outpost and the watchtower.

At one point during the gunfight, a soldier threw a grenade, wounding the terrorist and causing him to stop shooting. The soldiers then followed up and shot the attacker dead at close range. Although a drone was providing intelligence during the exchange, it could not intervene due to the terrorist being too close to the soldiers.

Military officials have raised concerns about the security conditions at the checkpoint, criticizing the soldiers' ability to protect themselves during such an ambush.

The attack coincides with an increase in security operations in Judea and Samaria, part of Operation Iron Wall, targeting terror networks and infrastructure. Over the last 24 hours, the IDF reported over 100 arrests and the elimination of 50 terrorists. Additionally, dozens of weapons were confiscated, and multiple terrorist facilities were demolished.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reaffirmed the continuation of the operation, underscoring Israel's efforts to eliminate terrorism and secure the region, including countering threats from the Iranian axis in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and in Judea and Samaria.

As part of the increased military activity, IDF reinforcements, including special units and combat battalions, have been deployed to secure roads, settlements, and carry out arrests, all while responding to violent riots.
