The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Friday that they had uncovered a Hezbollah training center located just 200 meters from a UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) outpost in southern Lebanon. This discovery occurred during one of multiple IDF raids targeting Hezbollah’s infrastructure. The facility was reportedly used for training, storing weapons, and preparing missile launchers aimed at Israel.
The IDF seized documents, maps of Israel, operational guides, and additional weaponry from the site. The base was dismantled, and all weapons were confiscated before IDF troops departed. In response to the incident, UNIFIL issued a statement condemning the destruction of part of a fence and a concrete structure at a UNIFIL position in Ras Naqoura, though the IDF denied any operations within the UN position.
Rocket Attacks on Central Israel
On Friday afternoon, rocket alert sirens sounded across central Israel as rockets were fired from Lebanon, impacting areas including Petach Tikva, Kfar Saba, and Haifa. According to the IDF, about 60 rockets were launched by Hezbollah, with most intercepted by Israeli air defense systems. Some projectiles struck open areas, and a house in Kfar Yasif sustained damage, though no casualties were reported.
IAF Strikes Hezbollah Command Centers in Tyre and Beirut
In retaliation, the Israel Air Force (IAF) launched targeted strikes on Hezbollah command centers near Tyre in southern Lebanon. Throughout Friday, IDF forces reported the elimination of dozens of Hezbollah operatives and the destruction of multiple weapons storage facilities.
Overnight, the IDF conducted airstrikes on several Hezbollah command and weapons manufacturing sites in Dahieh, a Hezbollah stronghold in Beirut. These facilities were reportedly embedded within civilian neighborhoods, endangering residents. To reduce risks, the IDF issued advance warnings to Lebanese civilians in affected areas.
Saudi news site Al-Hadath reported that the IDF targeted 14 sites across Burj al-Barajneh, Haret Hreik, and al-Hadath in Beirut.
Expanded Operations in Gaza
Simultaneously, the IDF continued operations in the Gaza Strip, striking over 50 terrorist targets. In Jabalya, IDF troops dismantled a weapons storage facility, and additional strikes were conducted on terror sites in Rafah.
