On Wednesday, sirens blared across northern and central Israel after some ten projectiles were launched from Lebanon, triggering alerts across Gush Dan and the Sharon area. Areas affected included Tel Aviv suburbs such as Holon, Rishon Lezion, Herzliya, Petah Tikva, Ramat Gan, and Netanya. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that most of the incoming fire was intercepted, with one projectile landing in central Israel.
Emergency response teams from Magen David Adom were dispatched following the initial sirens, and although no casualties were directly caused by the strikes, 20 individuals were reported injured while rushing to shelters. Additional reports from Israeli media indicated a projectile impact near Ben-Gurion Airport and shrapnel found on a vehicle in Ra'anana.
In the afternoon, another wave of sirens was triggered in central Israel, attributed to an additional projectile intercepted by the IDF. Later that day, Hezbollah launched approximately 50 more rockets targeting northern Israel, with sirens sounding across the Upper Galilee, including Rosh Pina, Hatzor Haglilit, and Safed. The IDF reported that some rockets were intercepted, while others struck various locations in the North. By 4:00 p.m., an estimated 120 projectiles had been launched from Lebanon.
Hezbollah Activity and Hostility in the Region
Amid the escalation, Hezbollah's Al-Manar TV published a detailed map revealing over 50 IDF bases along the Lebanon-Israel border, marking locations from Rosh Hanikra to Mount Dov (Sheba Farms). The map, shared widely online, includes information on each base’s size, distance from the border, and stationed military units. This publication, believed to be intended as a provocative measure, follows a similar move that led to the banning of Al Jazeera in Israel.
Ongoing IDF Operations Against Hezbollah
Meanwhile the IDF’s 8th Brigade combat team, part of the 91st Division, has intensified its operations in southern Lebanon, focusing on eliminating Hezbollah forces. The unit has reportedly neutralized several Hezbollah operatives, including a battalion commander and the head of a Hezbollah compound. Supported by air cover, IDF forces have seized extensive Hezbollah weaponry, including Kornet missiles, grenades, and other military equipment concealed within civilian areas.
These operations, which incorporate infantry, reconnaissance, and artillery units, are systematically dismantling Hezbollah’s fortified positions, which include observation posts and defensive structures.
