Israeli meteorologists have confirmed that this winter is the driest the country has experienced in 25 years. Despite the usual winter forecasts, the weather remains partly cloudy with mild temperatures, showing no significant change in the coming days.
Rainfall has been far below average, with only 10 mm expected in northern Israel, a stark contrast to previous years. The forecast predicts local rain on Wednesday afternoon, accompanied by isolated thunderstorms in central Israel, continuing through the night. However, this rainfall is minimal, and additional significant rain is not expected anytime soon.
In some areas like the Carmel in Haifa, the rainfall has been particularly scarce, contributing to a regional rain deficit when compared to the multi-year average. The Jerusalem area, in particular, is seeing its driest rainy season since 1998, receiving only about a third of the expected precipitation.
As the weekend approaches, weather conditions are set to shift slightly, with local rain expected in central Israel and strong easterly winds likely to raise temperatures on Friday. A significant temperature drop will follow on Saturday, starting in the northern mountainous areas and moving southward toward central Israel.
