The Israeli Air Force (IAF) has reportedly destroyed the entire fleet of operational MiG-29 fighter jets belonging to the Syrian Arab Air Force in a series of airstrikes on Syrian air bases. These strikes targeted key installations, including the Khalkhalah Air Base in the Suwayda Governorate, one of Syria's most important military facilities.
According to reports, all operational MiG-29 interceptors stationed at the Al-Suwayda West Air Base were eliminated during the air raid. This operation represents a significant escalation in Israel’s ongoing efforts to neutralize Syria’s military capabilities and disrupt the strategic balance in the region.
Khalkhalah Air Base, known for housing advanced fighter jets and military equipment, was the primary focus of the strikes. While the full extent of the damage is still being assessed, early reports indicate that Israel’s operation has rendered Syria’s MiG-29 fleet non-operational, significantly weakening the country’s air defense capabilities.
Israel has long maintained that its air operations in Syria are aimed at preventing the transfer of advanced weaponry to hostile groups and countering the growing military presence of Iran in the region. The destruction of Syria's MiG-29 fleet is expected to further hinder Syria’s ability to defend its airspace and project power in the region.
Analysts believe that the loss of the MiG-29s marks a critical shift in the regional balance of air power, potentially altering the strategic landscape in Syria and its relations with neighboring countries.
