Israeli Navy Successfully Tests Gabriel 5 Sea-to-Sea Missile

The Israeli Navy has successfully completed an operational test launch of the Gabriel 5 sea-to-sea missile, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). This significant development strengthens Israel’s naval capabilities and reinforces its maritime defense strategy.

The test, conducted by the Israeli Navy’s Missile Ship Flotilla in collaboration with the Ministry of Defense’s Directorate of Defense Research and Development (DDR&D) and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), involved firing the missile at a target vessel simulating an enemy ship. The missile’s performance during the test was described as exemplary, with all stages of the detection and firing process executed flawlessly, replicating real-world combat scenarios.

This operational test marks a major milestone for the Israeli Navy, ensuring that its missile defense systems are prepared for evolving maritime threats. Brig.-Gen. Yehuda Almakias, head of the DDR&D’s Research and Development Unit, emphasized that the successful test enhances Israel’s naval offensive capabilities and operational freedom. He stressed that it plays a key role in protecting Israel’s assets, infrastructure, and citizens.

The Gabriel 5 missile, which is considered one of the most advanced naval strike systems, was developed by Israel Aerospace Industries. IAI’s CEO, Boaz Levy, highlighted that the missile followed its planned trajectory with precision, striking the target as intended. He expressed confidence in the continued advancement of the Israeli Navy’s capabilities, reinforcing Israel's position as a leader in cutting-edge military technology.

Capt. A., head of the Weapons Department in the Israeli Navy, praised the professionalism and precision demonstrated by Israeli Navy personnel during the test. He also noted that the capabilities tested are already being integrated into operational missions, providing Israel with a substantial advantage in maritime combat.
