Iranian Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei posted on X Monday in commemoration of the first anniversary of the Hamas massacres of October 7th 2023. His post, in Hebrew, said "Operation Al-Aqsa Flood set the Zionist regime 70 years back." The post set of a storm of mocking posts on social media in several countries around the Middle East.
Israel's Diaspora Affairs and Combatting Antisemitism Minister Amichai Chikli posted one such mocking comment, with a picture showing the dismal conditions for people in the Gaza Strip along with the sarcastic caption; "It's amazing to see how much progress the operation has made for the people of Gaza."
Chikli also posted a rhetorical question to Khamenei asking him if he had heard anything from IRGC Brigadier General Esmail Qaani, who is believed to have been in a bunker under Beirut meeting with Hezbollah leader Hashem Safieddine when the IDF destroyed it with bunker-buster bombs on Saturday. Iran is so far refusing to admit that Qaani, who was the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Quds Force, is no longer alive.
