The Kissufim border crossing between Israel and the Gaza Strip has been opened to allow the passage of humanitarian aid trucks, as confirmed by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) on Tuesday. This move is part of an ongoing effort to increase the delivery of essential supplies to Gaza amid the ongoing conflict.

### Increasing Aid Routes to Gaza

This humanitarian operation is being closely coordinated by the IDF in collaboration with COGAT, the Southern Command, and the Ministry of Defense’s Crossing Authority. The primary focus of the operation is to deliver critical supplies such as food, water, medical equipment, and shelter materials to central and southern Gaza.

Security checks at the Kerem Shalom border crossing remain stringent, with Border Crossings Authority officials overseeing the inspections to ensure the safe transfer of aid. This is part of Israel’s broader strategy to provide humanitarian support while continuing military operations against Hamas forces in Gaza.

### IDF Efforts Amid Soldier Losses

Meanwhile, the IDF reported the tragic deaths of four soldiers during a battle in the northern Gaza Strip. Staff Sergeants Orr Katz, Nave Yair Asulin, Gary Lalhruaikima Zolat, and Ofir Eliyahu were killed while serving with the Shimshon Battalion of the Kfir Brigade. Katz, a 20-year-old combat medic from Ma'ale Adumim, and the other soldiers, all aged 20 and 21, were killed while fighting in Gaza.

These deaths bring the total number of Israeli soldiers killed in the ongoing conflict to 787, with 373 fatalities occurring since the launch of the IDF's ground operations in Gaza on October 27, 2024.

As Israel continues its military efforts in Gaza, the opening of the Kissufim crossing offers a critical lifeline to those in need, while also underscoring the human cost of the conflict.
