The municipality of Ma'aleh Adumim in the West Bank has announced plans to rename the E1 area to Trump 1, in recognition of former U.S. President Donald Trump and in hopes of furthering construction plans for a residential neighborhood there. The area, which spans approximately 12,000 dunams, is situated between Ma'aleh Adumim and Jerusalem.
The renaming reflects the municipality’s desire to honor Trump, particularly in light of his administration’s support for Israeli settlements. Ma'aleh Adumim Mayor Guy Yifrah emphasized that this move aligns with the strategic goal of strengthening the territorial continuity between Ma'aleh Adumim and Jerusalem. The mayor also expressed confidence that Trump's second term would present a unique opportunity to accelerate settlement development in the region.
"Trump's second term is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to strengthen the settlements," Yifrah noted, adding that the naming of Trump 1 would symbolize the strong bond between Israel and the United States.
The municipality’s hope is that under Trump’s leadership, construction in the area will move forward in the coming months, marking a significant milestone for the region’s growth.
