Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a statement Sunday morning giving some details about the air strikes on Iran Saturday morning. “In the early hours of Saturday morning” the IAF “hit areas in Iran severely harming its defense capabilities and its ability to produce missiles that would be launched at us,” Netanyahu said during a commemoration event for IDF soldiers killed in battle at Mt. Herzl in Jerusalem. “The attack on Iran was precise and targeted” and “achieved all its objectives.”

The comments came in the midst of a narrative about the Swords of Iron War which the IDF has been fighting for over a year now, as Netanyahu said that Iran is the sponsor and instigator of all the violence committed against Israel.

He also said it's appropriate that Israel now attack "the head of the octopus" in Iran after months of attacking "its tentacles" in Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis in Yemen.

“Those who strike us we will strike. This is a tenet that has accompanied us all this time and will accompany us going forward,” he said.

David Albright, a former UN weapons inspector, and Decker Eveleth, an associate research analyst at CNA, a Washington think tank, offered their thoughts on satellite pictures that were taken of the sites hit by Israel on Saturday, saying they showed extensive damage.

The two researchers told Reuters that buildings were hit in Parchin, a military base near Teheran which has long been believed to be one of the sites where work is being done on Iran's nuclear weapons program. Other strategic sites, including facilities for producing parts and fuel for drones and ballistic missiles, were also heavily damaged.

Eveleth said the Israeli strikes may have "significantly hampered Iran's ability to mass produce missiles."

"Israel says they targeted buildings housing solid-fuel mixers," Eveleth said. "These industrial mixers are hard to make and export-controlled. Iran imported many over the years at great expense, and will likely have a hard time replacing them."
