Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer has once again earned its place among the top hospitals in the world, ranking 8th in Newsweek's prestigious annual global hospital ranking. This marks the seventh consecutive year the Israeli medical center has been recognized as a leading institution, reflecting its outstanding medical services and global influence.

The ranking, compiled in collaboration with the global statistics platform Statista, evaluates hospitals based on comprehensive surveys, scientific achievements, and various performance indicators such as patient satisfaction, treatment standards, hygiene, and wait times. As Israel’s largest hospital and one of the biggest in the Middle East, Sheba serves as a critical healthcare provider, with 1,900 beds and nearly 2 million patient visits annually. With over 10,000 staff members, it has become a key pillar in Israel’s healthcare system and has gained international recognition for its medical expertise and innovations.

Role in National and Global Crisis Response

Sheba's climb in the rankings this year is partly attributed to its central role in treating casualties during Israel's recent conflicts and its care for hostages released from Hamas captivity. This invaluable contribution to national health and security has cemented its position as a global healthcare leader.

In addition to its healthcare excellence, Sheba is playing a significant role in economic growth, with its cutting-edge medical technologies being sold to global pharmaceutical and medical device companies for around $1 billion. The hospital is also transforming into an AI-driven medical center, paving the way for even greater advancements in healthcare.

Israeli Hospitals on the Global Stage

Sheba isn’t the only Israeli hospital making waves in the global rankings. Ichilov Hospital, Rabin Medical Center, and Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital also made it into the top rankings, with Ichilov at 60th, Rabin at 122nd, and Hadassah at 242nd place.
