Team Israel made history at the Invictus Games in Vancouver, securing two impressive medals. The Israeli delegation, comprising 20 athletes from the Zahal Disabled Veterans Organization, achieved a gold medal in wheelchair basketball and a bronze in wheelchair curling, showcasing their strength, resilience, and sporting excellence.

In a dominant display of skill and teamwork, Israel’s wheelchair basketball team defeated the United States 62-7 in the final to claim the gold medal. This commanding victory capped off an incredible journey through the competition, with the Israeli team first overwhelming Team Unconquered 55-14 in the semifinals and topping the Netherlands 39-6 in the preliminary rounds. Their victory on the global stage at the Invictus Games is a testament to their dedication and sportsmanship.

In the wheelchair curling event, Team Israel showed their resilience by battling through a series of tough matches. After securing wins over Colombia and Lithuania, the team advanced to the semifinals but was narrowly defeated by the United Kingdom 3-1. Undeterred, Israel rallied to claim the bronze medal with a thrilling extra-end victory against Canada in the third-place match. This hard-fought success adds to the nation’s growing legacy at the Invictus Games.

The Invictus Games, founded by Prince Harry in 2014, brings together wounded, injured, and sick servicemen and women from across the world, providing them with a platform to inspire recovery, support rehabilitation, and promote greater respect for those who serve their countries. Team Israel made its debut at the Düsseldorf Games in 2023, bringing home an impressive 14 medals, including three golds in table tennis.

Israel’s team to the 2025 Invictus Games in Vancouver and Whistler comprises athletes from the Zahal Disabled Veterans Organization, all of whom have been injured during their service in the IDF. These athletes compete in various disciplines, including swimming, cycling, archery, table tennis, and indoor rowing, further cementing Israel’s growing presence at this prestigious international competition.
