US President Donald Trump wasted no time in his first day back in the White House, signing several executive orders and taking significant actions that marked a sharp departure from his predecessor's policies. One of the key moves announced was the rescindment of the sanctions imposed by the Biden administration on Israeli settler groups in the West Bank.

The announcement was made on the White House website under a section titled "Initial Rescissions of Harmful Executive Orders and Actions," which detailed the revocation of several policies. Among the list was Executive Order 14115, issued on February 1, 2024, which had authorized sanctions on individuals and groups accused of "undermining peace, security, and stability" in the West Bank.

President Biden had issued the sanctions, citing "extremist settler violence, forced displacement, and property destruction" as "major concerns affecting the stability of the region."

On the first day of his return to the presidency, Trump also signed several other significant orders, including the pardon of over 1,500 individuals involved in the January 6th Capitol riot. The President's actions on this day reflect his commitment to rolling back many of the policies enacted during the Biden administration.

In addition to the sanctions rescindment, Trump also made headlines with his decision to withdraw the US from the Paris Climate Agreement for the second time.

As Trump navigates his new term, international relations and foreign policy remain at the forefront. Statements regarding Israel, the Gaza ceasefire, and the Abraham Accords have also sparked conversations. Trump remarked that while he was not confident in the Gaza ceasefire, he believed that countries like Saudi Arabia would eventually join the Abraham Accords, following the normalization of relations between Israel and other Arab nations under his previous administration.
