Snowfall began early Monday morning in Jerusalem and several northern Israeli localities, as storm 'Coral' swept across the region, ushering in a wave of winter weather. Educational institutions in Jerusalem opened later than usual, with a 9 a.m. start time announced on Sunday, due to concerns over icy streets and potential frost hazards.
The snowstorm also impacted areas in the Upper Galilee, with towns like Manara, Metula, and Misgav Am covered in snow. The Golan Heights' Mas’ada also experienced snow accumulation. Local authorities have issued warnings and guidelines to help residents prepare for the storm, advising them to stock up on essential supplies, such as food, water, hygiene products, and basic medical necessities.
This is the first significant snowfall in the area since January 2022, when snow from Mount Hermon made its way south to Jerusalem.
