El Al Dominates US-Israel Flights Amid Competition Challenges and High Airfares

El Al Israel Airlines continues to maintain its dominance in the Israel-North America travel market, operating as the sole airline offering direct flights between Israel and the United States. In November, 11% of the passengers passing through Ben-Gurion Airport were flying to and from the US on El Al flights, underscoring its importance in the air travel corridor.

Despite the growing hope for competition, there appears to be little likelihood of any new direct flights to the US before April 2025. Although Delta Airlines plans to resume flights to Israel in April 2025, many of its fares are already more expensive than El Al’s.
