Hamas has issued a call for widespread mobilization to resist the ongoing security operation conducted by Palestinian Authority (PA) forces in the West Bank city of Jenin. In an official statement released Tuesday, Hamas urged "all movements, factions, tribal gatherings, and human rights organizations" to join the effort in repelling the PA's actions.

The operation, which began earlier in December, was prompted by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists stealing vehicles belonging to the PA. Hamas condemned the PA’s efforts, claiming the operation serves only to assist "the occupation army" and weaken the Palestinian resistance in the West Bank.

The conflict has escalated with clashes between PA security forces and terrorists in Jenin. Recently, a car bomb was detonated near a police station in the city, adding to the violence. Hamas also criticized the PA for continuing the operation despite widespread calls for its cessation to protect the Palestinian resistance.

The violence in Jenin led to the reported death of Yazid Ja'isa, the commander of the PIJ's Jenin Brigade, who was killed in an exchange of fire with PA security forces on Saturday. The PA forces were attempting to clear the area of terrorists when the clash occurred.

Tensions remain high as the PA and various armed groups, including Hamas and PIJ, battle for control and influence in the West Bank. The United States recently urged Israel to approve the supply of weapons to the PA security forces, highlighting the international stakes in the region.
