In an exclusive report by N12, footage revealed a significant weapons transfer from Syrian villagers and rebels in the Golan Heights to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The footage shows individuals loading trucks with hundreds of boxes containing ammunition, mortars, bombs, and grenades, which are then handed over to the IDF.
Among the items discovered by IDF soldiers were weapons containing chemical warfare materials. Soldiers explained that some grenades had been filled with chemical agents that could cause irritation and require special mechanisms to activate. These weapons, originating from former Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad’s regime, had been used in the past to suppress rebel forces.
The weapons, now under the control of Syrian rebels, are being transferred to Israel for storage and safety. The recent development highlights the growing cooperation between the IDF and certain Syrian groups, particularly as the region remains embroiled in conflict.
Israel's Defense Minister, Israel Katz, has reportedly instructed the IDF to maintain a presence in the Syrian buffer zone until the situation in Syria stabilizes. This is part of Israel’s broader strategy to secure its borders and prevent further threats from the volatile region.
In a related development, Druze communities in Syria have reportedly offered assistance to Israel in its efforts related to the ongoing war in Gaza. Ayoub Kara, former communication minister and Likud MK, shared details of these meetings, noting that Druze villagers have expressed willingness to support Israel’s cause, which could impact future security strategies in the region.
Kara emphasized the strategic importance of the Druze villages in southern Syria, suggesting that they could act as a security buffer for Israel, preventing terrorist threats. He also proposed the possibility of creating an autonomous region in southern Syria that could ally with Israel, although these plans remain uncertain.
