Following recent intense strikes by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) targeting Hezbollah's terror infrastructure in Lebanon, a mass exodus of civilians has been reported from the border area with Israel towards the interior of the country. According to local reports, thousands of vehicles were caught in traffic for over five hours, with many families sleeping in their cars due to a lack of food and fuel.
This mass flight has led to fierce criticism from Lebanese journalists and media figures. Michael Young, a senior editor from the Carnegie Middle East Center, wrote, “The fact that Hezbollah told people to flee shows they cannot protect them, despite claiming they could. This will have consequences that need to be noted.”
Randa Slim, a Lebanese-American journalist, criticized Hezbollah, stating, "The anger against Hezbollah is growing. The narrative is clear: If you can’t fight Israel and protect us, why drag us into this war?"
Nirvana Mahmoud, a Middle East expert, added, "Hezbollah has lost its ‘invincible’ image both within Lebanon and across the Arab world."
In Lebanon, reports now indicate that over 16,500 people have been displaced, with 150 schools being used as shelters for those fleeing the conflict.
