The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have carried out a series of strategic strikes in southern Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah infrastructure. On Tuesday, the IDF airstrikes hit a concealed weapons storage facility in Bani Haiyyan, southern Lebanon, after Israeli soldiers identified Hezbollah terrorists moving weapons into a truck. The operation is part of Israel's ongoing efforts to protect its security and counter any threats from Hezbollah.
The IDF emphasized that their actions are consistent with the ceasefire understandings between Israel and Lebanon, which were implemented in late November. However, the IDF made it clear that they would continue to act against any threat to the state of Israel and its citizens.
In addition to the airstrike on the weapons facility, IDF Golani soldiers and Erez Program troops from Brigade 769 also discovered and destroyed a large weapons cache in the Saluki region of southern Lebanon. The facility contained rocket launchers, missiles, and explosive devices, which posed a significant threat to Israeli security.
The IDF also uncovered additional weaponry in separate raids. These included missile launchers, explosives, AK-47 rifles, grenades, wire-guided missiles, mines, surveillance equipment, and tactical combat gear. All weapons found during these operations were confiscated and dismantled by the IDF.
The ongoing military activity in southern Lebanon follows a previous operation on December 28, when the IDF dismantled a 100-meter-long tunnel hiding a Hezbollah Radwan Force terrorist hideout. The tunnel was destroyed with the help of the IDF’s engineering forces.
Despite the ceasefire in place, the IDF has reiterated its commitment to neutralizing any Hezbollah threat, ensuring the safety of Israeli citizens.
