Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was discharged from Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem on Thursday after successfully undergoing prostate removal surgery on Sunday evening. The procedure followed the discovery of an infection in his urinary tract linked to a benign prostate enlargement. Netanyahu spent several days recovering in a secure, underground ward due to ongoing security concerns about potential missile or rocket attacks amidst the ongoing conflict.

Despite the advice of his doctors, Netanyahu briefly left the hospital on Tuesday to cast a critical vote on a key budget-related bill in the Knesset. Sources revealed that he returned to the hospital exhausted later that night.

On his release, Netanyahu expressed gratitude to the medical team, including his personal physician Dr. Zvika Berkowitz, and thanked the public for their ongoing support. "I would like to thank the many citizens of Israel for the prayers, encouragement, and support that have deeply moved me and my family,” Netanyahu wrote on X.

Although his condition is stable, Netanyahu’s doctors advised a two-week recovery period at home, during which he is not to resume normal work activities. As a result, several official meetings, including a cabinet session scheduled for Thursday night, have been canceled.

This marks the latest in a series of health issues for Netanyahu, who has faced scrutiny over his age and medical history. At 75, he joins other world leaders such as U.S. Presidents Joe Biden and Donald Trump, who have also faced health concerns. Netanyahu had a pacemaker implanted in 2023 after a heart issue and has had other surgeries and health episodes in recent years.

Despite some past concerns over the transparency of his health reports, Netanyahu's doctors have confirmed that his condition is stable, and he is expected to follow through with a recovery plan.
