Severe flooding has caused significant disruptions in several regions of Saudi Arabia, with vehicles stranded in rising waters as emergency teams scramble to manage the ongoing crisis. The affected areas have experienced intense rainfall, leading to dangerous conditions across key regions.
Local authorities have rapidly mobilized over 350 workers, along with 140 pieces of equipment, to assist in the crisis response. In Qassim, 85 field teams, including Civil Defense and the Traffic Department, are on the ground, working tirelessly to manage flood-related incidents and ensure the safety of residents.
Meteorological reports indicate that the Al-Qahah area in Badr Governorate, located in the Madinah region, recorded 13.2 mm (0.52 inches) of rainfall between March 3 and March 4. The heavy rainfall has intensified flooding, particularly in low-lying areas, making travel hazardous and straining local infrastructure.
The General Directorate of Civil Defense has issued an urgent severe weather warning, urging citizens to avoid flood-prone areas and stay informed via official channels. Thunderstorms are expected to persist across much of the Kingdom until March 10, significantly raising the risk of more flooding. Regions including Makkah, Riyadh, Madinah, Tabuk, Ha'il, Qassim, and the Eastern Province are forecast to receive moderate to heavy rainfall, heightening the need for continued vigilance.
