Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed on Sunday that Israel and the United States are working in full coordination on key issues concerning Gaza, Iran, and Lebanon. This statement followed a meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, where the two leaders discussed ongoing matters related to the fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, the situation in Lebanon, and the growing concerns surrounding Iran.
Netanyahu expressed his gratitude towards Rubio for providing "unequivocal backing" for Israel’s policy in Gaza. The two leaders reiterated their shared strategy, particularly in Gaza, where the ceasefire agreement has been in effect for 15 months after prolonged conflict with Hamas. Netanyahu emphasized that Israel and the US, under President Donald Trump's leadership, are united in their efforts to address the situation.
“I want to assure everyone who's now listening to us that President Trump and I are working in full cooperation and coordination between us,” Netanyahu stated during the meeting.
In the press conference, Rubio echoed Netanyahu's concerns about Iran, labeling it the "single greatest source of instability in the region." He reaffirmed the US's firm stance on preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear capabilities, underscoring the importance of regional stability.
Rubio's visit to Israel is part of a broader Middle Eastern trip, which includes stops in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. His trip is also aligned with efforts to resolve the ongoing hostage situation in Gaza, with US and Israeli officials working to secure the release of the remaining six living hostages from the ceasefire deal.
